A Prayer for Ukraine using the example of Biblical faith found in Daniel chapter three.
Lord, your Word tells us you are able to bring deliverance from the devastation in the Ukraine.
To him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think (Eph. 3), we pray that you will redeem this situation and bring believers closer to yourself during this time of turmoil and confusion. We believe you are able to do this.
We pray that you will bring redemption and cause unbelievers to turn to you in the midst of their suffering; penetrate their hearts and show them your power and might over the kings of this world. We believe you are able.
We pray that you would bind Satan and keep the innocent safe from the hateful violence. We believe you are able.
We pray for parents who are seeking to guide their young children in their fears and uncertainties. Give them wisdom to know what to say and where to go. Give them courage in the face of this horror. We believe you are able.
We pray for all the world leaders involved in the diplomacy over Ukraine. Lord, give them wisdom. We believe you are able to do this.
We pray that you will provide peace beyond understanding to the innocent caught in the wake of bombs and other attacks. We believe you are able.
Lord, we know you will hear and answer the prayers of your people.
We pray that you will give strength to church leaders who are seeking to guide their flocks amid war. Keep your church united in the midst of difficult questions and give them wisdom beyond understanding. We believe you will do this.
We pray for the soldiers who have been called to defend their land. Give them courage and keep them safe. We believe you will do this.
We pray for the loved ones of these soldiers who say good-bye with such uncertainty about whether or not they will return. Allow them to rest in your sovereign hand and trust in your perfect ways. We believe you will do this.
We pray for the orphanages filled with children and caretakers who are caught in the middle of crossfire. Please, Lord, protect their lives and calm their greatest fears. We believe you will do this.
We pray with boldness that you will bring a swift end to the violence. We believe you will do this.
We pray that you will strengthen the hearts of believers in the Ukraine in an inexplicable way. Reveal your presence to them and allow them to feel your nearness. We believe you will do this.
But, Lord, if you do not answer in the exact way we hope and pray, we trust your ways, and we will continue to worship you, the One true God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all (Eph. 4:6).
We pray for unhindered trust for the Ukraine church, especially in the face of death and suffering of their men, women, and even children.
We pray for unhindered trust in your promise that justice will be done, and evil will not win.
We pray for unhindered trust for the Ukraine people that when the nations rage and people plot in vain, they will find refuge in you.
While we pray boldly for the protection of life, we pray for unhindered trust in the truth that you have conquered death: “Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” Give those who may face the death of loved ones the eyes to see that this enemy does not have the final say.
We pray for unhindered trust that you are in control of every detail of this life, including what is going on in this place right now. Give the Ukrainians the strength to cling to this truth no matter what today might bring.
We pray all these things in your name, Jesus.
Amen.
